We have ANNIE PHELAN coming to Buckland on the East Coast for some performances.
The event is to be held in private homes. We will be doing one at Twamley, one at Sally Peak and one at Brockley Estate. The dates are Saturday, April 12 and Sunday April 13. There will only be 25 – 35 people at each venue so tickets will be sold in advance and bookings are essential.
Salon Northwest presents Annie Phelan for a limited season on the East Coast. Performing mainly in private homes these Salon occasions allow audiences to share an intimate setting with this much-loved actress who has appeared prominently in theatre and television.
After an ongoing role in Bellbird Annie appeared on screen as the iconic character Myra Desmond in Prisoner. Myra’s exit from the show was arguably the most dramatic exit of any character and remains a fan favourite. Her other roles include Starting Out, Family and Friends and Something in the Air. She has made guest starring appearances in many drama series including The Flying Doctors, Blue Heelers, Marshall Law and Mother and Son. Currently she is appearing in channel 7’s Winners and Losers.
In 2007 in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List she was awarded an OAM for service to the arts as an actress, and to the community, particularly through support for women living with the HIV virus and for asylum seekers and refugees.
She has been awarded the following Australian Film Institute Awards:
Best Performance by an Actress in a Mini Series (1988) in Poor Man’s Orange.
Best Actress in a Leading Role in a Television Drama (2000) Something In the Air
For her Salon performances Annie will treat her audiences to excerpts from the play Mavis Goes to Timor as well as other pieces and will be supported by well known musicans Laurie Lewis (saxophone) and Brendan Siemsen (guitar).
Bookings are essential as space is strictly limited.
