Information/ description sheet for the exhibition:
The works on paper selected for this exhibition are from 2 groups of artworks done on journeys to Central and Western Australia in 2012 and 13.
1. Central Australia, 03 to 09 2012.
This selection of drawings were done on site in various landscapes in South Australia and The Northern Territory, including The Flinders and Gammon Ranges, along The Oodnadatta Track, Painted Desert, The Mac Donnell Ranges, Kings Canyon, Uluru and Kata Tjuta(Olgas).
2. The Great Australian Bight, Western Australia, 06 to 09, 2013.
This selection of drawings were done on site in various landscapes in South Australia and Western Australia, including the Eyre Peninsula, Point Sinclair, the Nullarbor, Capes Freycinet and D’ Entrecasteaux. Also, the Stirling Ranges, Fitzgerald River, Capes Arid and Le Grand National Parks.
To travel and get to these places and work, I carried everything needed and drove by car and camped with tents and basic camping equipment required to live in these mostly arid environments for 3 to 5 months at a time. Being out in these landscapes for long periods in all weather conditions, enabled for a complete emersion and focus on the environments I encountered and moved through. All artworks were done from base camps while exploring the diversity of landscapes of Central, Western and South Australia.
Exhibition description.
The artworks in this exhibition have been placed in groups of varying sizes and presented in a way that can create a sense of moving through and into a diversity of landscapes and environments, from dry river valleys, arid ranges, open deserts to granite coastlines and sea cliffs.
