Cable … Mountain: Public Forum Q&A

Posted on

Respect The Mountain – No Cable Car will be holding a 1 hour Public Forum Q&A at Town Hall tomorrow Wednesday 26th February beginning at 12:30pm. Guest speakers include representatives of the three major parties as well as a representative from the Tasmanian Aboriginal Council and local business operators.

The forum will ask the guest speakers to talk about their vision for the future of the mountain and what they consider appropriate development on Mt Wellington.

The public will also be provided opportunities to ask questions to the speakers about development on Mt Wellington and suggest any other ideas for development that may not have been raised before.

Spokesperson and event organiser for the group, Mr. Jason Turvey, said “The only discussion the public’s had so far has been either for or against a cable car. It’s a ridiculous debate because it doesn’t fall in line with either the Wellington Park Management Trust and the Hobart City Council’s vision for the future of Mt. Wellington. The public should be allowed to have an opportunity to express their views and not have them told by a wannabe start-up company what should happen.”

“This is about letting Hobartians have the microphone and talking for themselves.” The political parties should know the views of the public before commencing their policies and what better opportunity than this.

The MC for the Public Forum Q & A will be Margaret Steadman.
