The Tasmanian Greens today made it clear that there are exciting prospects and strong support for returning a proud and positive Green voice representing Braddon at the March poll.
Greens Member for Braddon, Paul O’Halloran MP launched his four running mates for the upcoming state election, describing his team as having a fantastic mix of skills and experience.
“I am quietly proud and extremely chuffed to have such a strong professional and diverse team of candidates working alongside me this state election, dedicated to keeping a Green seat in Braddon,” Mr O’Halloran said.
“We have a clear and unified focus.”
“We want to talk about our vision for building jobs and creating our positive future based on the characteristics that make Braddon such a special place. We can achieve this without trashing our home, or polluting our clean air and water or devastate our unique wild places.”
“There is a clear choice between allowing Tasmania to be dragged back to the old ways, or whether we move forward and embrace the opportunities provided by the new economy.”
“We need to diversify local economies and a clear focus on education and skills training is key to unlocking that jobs rich future.”
“We have been out talking and listening with communities about their hopes and dreams for their future, and it’s clear that people believe the North West-and West Coasts are the place to live.”
Mr O’Halloran will be supported by four Greens candidates from across the electorate of Braddon.
Chris Cornell of Turners Beach is the Team Leader for the Department of Community Corrections and has worked in this field for the past 11 years in this field.
Melissa Houghton is a small-business operator in the tourism industry. She recently worked in the sub-Antarctic and now contributes to an environmental management project improving Antarctic biosecurity.
Philip Nicholas is a musician with a science background and has lived on the North-West coast for 30 years.
Sally O’Wheel has a background in education in Secondary and Primary schools and currently teaches Japanese at Devonport Primary School.
“Keeping a strong positive Greens’ voice in Braddon, will keep a focus on building on our region’s strengths, providing a place where we want to raise our families, watch our kids grow, and be part of creating our own future which is inclusive, innovative, and the envy of the world,” Mr O’Halloran said.
