The Tasmanian Greens have announced their ticket to contest the seat of Denison in the upcoming State Election.
Cassy O’Connor is the Greens’ lead candidate and sitting Member for Denison. Cassy served as Tasmania’s Minister for Human Services, Housing, Aboriginal Affairs and Climate Change between 2010 and 2014. She is a former journalist and was the voice of the Save Ralphs Bay campaign before entering Parliament.
Bill Harvey is a Hobart City Council Greens Alderman. Bill has been a teacher and a small business operator.
Philip Cocker is also a Greens Alderman on Hobart City Council. He is chairman of the Council’s Finance, Superannuation and Audit Committee.
Penelope Ann has run a number of successful small businesses and bring experience from the arts and tourism.
Alan Whykes runs a small business that provides cooking classes and food tours. He has worked as an interpreter, journalist and holds qualifications in Education, Linguistics and Italian Language.
“We have a great team of candidates in Denison, and I am proud to work alongside them to maximise the Green vote in this fantastic electorate,” Cassy O’Connor said.
“While the old parties are stuck in the past banging the pulp mill drum, we will be out there talking to Tasmanians and listening to their ideas about the future of this beautiful island.”
