Howling Hermanos!

Posted on

Okay the guys are not Spanish but the title makes a good case of alliteration.

I am drawn to one of the photos of the Wolfe Brothers on their site. The guys are slightly muddied, and it reminds me of one of the origins of the name Brodie, meaning muddied. But after rain and mud comes the rainbow and today I am talking to Brodie Rainbird, one member of The Wolfe Brothers about their continuing success and their own origins.

Brodie and the other 3 members that make up The Wolfe Brothers are like their namesake ‘wolves’, a close pack that have been together since they travelled on the bus to school. and like wolves whose howling can be heard vast differences, the boys music is now heard far and wide, due in part to a fortuitous decision to appear on Australia’s Got Talent.

Initally the boys weren’t keen to participate on ‘Australia’s Got Talent’ but realised it was a chance to get over Bass Strait literally and metaphorically and gain that all important national exposure and extend their fan base. They approached the program as a fun event while at the same time giving it all they could.

Brodie, like the other boys in the group has a musical background. On his Mum’s side is a cousin who is a successful indie rock musician in the UK and Brodie’s uncle on his Mum’s side is a piano accordion player. Brodie’s Mum also sang in a choir.

Brodie’s coming from a small town experienced quite an impression of the big smoke where everything, says Brodie was bigger, even the food and he struggled to grasp the scale of it.

Since their success on ‘Australia’s Got Talent’ the boys have been catapulted into super-stardom with Lee Kernaghan coming on board. Lee’s had them as his support act on his ‘Beautiful Noise’ tour and has glowing things to say about boys. So impressed is he that when he considered ‘freshening’ up his band he got a new one … The Wolfe Brothers!.

Brodie tells me they are still pinching themselves that this is all really happening. The boys, that had days jobs of dental technician, posty station worker, builder and refrigerator mechanic are now recording music and making videos, the last of which featured 8 models!

One thing that hasn’t changed and will always remain is their commitment to Tassie and desire to keep Tassie as their base, after all the mainland isn’t that far away! Also the boys are looking forward to their upcoming tour and a return to the days when they would load up the ute on a Friday afternoon after work, ready for visits to the pubs of the Midlands, an experience which Brodie calls simply calls ‘fantastic’.

The boys will have their new and second album in out in March.

The boys will be on the road again and back in Tassie for an extensive tour. You can see them at:
