Angullong 2013 Sauvignon Blanc
Region: Orange NSW | $20
I’ve never been a great fan of sauvignon blanc in general, but I reckon some of the best examples come out of the Orange district, where the cool, high-altitude climate seems to give the variety some real depth of flavour rather than just an explosion of aroma.
That abundance of herb, passionfruit and citrus aromas is all present and correct here, but it’s on the palate that the wine shows some real differences with the average savvy from New Zealand’s Marlborough region.
It shows attractive depth and length, and easily passes the second and third glass test, especially when matched with Vietnamese and Thai food.
