PERFORMANCE AT MELBOURNE RECITAL CENTRE and MONA JAZZ SERIES

ABC Music jazz recording artist, Albare is pleased to announce his first two concerts for 2014, performing for the first time in Hobart at MONA, as part of the Jazz at MONA series of free afternoon concerts (JAM) on Sunday, February 2nd, and in his home town at the Melbourne Recital Centre on Sunday, February 9th.

2013 has been a hectic year for Albare. After starting the year in New York with seven APAP (Advance Performing Arts Project) and club shows, and recording his latest album “The Road Ahead” in Brooklyn, the guitarist and his virtuosic band successfully toured Australia and New Zealand.

“The Road Ahead”, which represents Albare’s seventh album, was then released in June (as usual by the legendary German jazz label ENJA) in the United States, Europe and Asia. Following his latest release, Albare played in all these territories.

Upon Albare returning to Australia, the album was launched here by ABC Music who have the rights to Albare’s work for Australia and New Zealand.

Tickets to the Melbourne Recital Centre concert are $55.00 each, available now through http://www.melbournerecital.com.au/events/2014/albare/ and Ticketmaster (www.ticketmaster.com.au).

WHAT THE MEDIA IS SAYING ABOUT ALBARE:

“Albare’s guitar speaks volumes with its thematically lucid turns of phrase.” JAZZ TIMES, October 2013

“…MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, with an “EQ” rating (Energectic Quotient) of 5 … top score, ergo the “PICK” of this issue for best guitar jazz”. IMPROVIJAZZATION NATION, October 2013

… absolutely terrific guitar playing by Albare …. Exceptional.” SYNTHESIS WEEKLY, September 2013

“Airy and melodic throughout, it atmospherically embraces the fusion era of the 60s and 70s with grace, intelligence, mellifluous sinuousness, and a raft of influences ranging from Martino to Szabo to Metheny to Akkerman to Jan Schaeffer.” – FAME, August 2013.

“Albare’s sextet of jazz musicians from all around the world complemented his unique playing perfectly, and left the capacity crowd utterly (Melbourne Recital Centre) frothing.” -VULTURE Magazine, June 2013

“Modern jazz guitar in the United States has become somewhat predictable. Only a handful of artists are venturing post the accepted norms… Albare comes to us via Australia but brings an exciting if not eclectic mix of influences to the more mainstream lyrically oriented contemporary genre that is so prevalent in this country.” -NOTJUSTJAZZ, July 2013. (USA)

“Music by the group led by Albare Dadon is quite a bit more exciting than the work of fellow guitarist Earl Klugh on these two albums. But both recordings are good looks at work on the six-string instrument. Albare’s “The Road Ahead” is a Pat Metheny-tinged look at world-music-flavored jazz done by a quartet.” – Tribune Review, August 2013 (USA)

“…it really is like Wes Montgomery riding the space shuttle that’ll take us to Mars.” -Midwest Record Review, July 2013 (USA)

“… Albare spikes virtuosic guitar playing with a world of influences.” – Capital Bop November 2012 (USA)
