It’s hard to imagine Tasmania without its annual festival calendar, which Ten Days on the Island
inspired, and in an exciting new development the organisation is again set to lead a new direction in
creative endeavours in the State with a new brand and fresh strategy to engage with the
community.
Ten Days Executive Director and Producer Marcus Barker said the festival was adapting and evolving
with the times to ensure the international multi-arts event was a leader in any decade and
continued to provide economic value, as well as inspiration and entertainment for the community.
“Plans are now well underway for a reinvigorated 2015 festival, as well as additional cultural events
to be held in the months between festivals,” Mr Barker said.
“As part of this process, Ten Days is launching an inspiring visual identity to reflect the new
dimensions to the festival.
“The new brand supports our journey from a biennial festival to a new Ten Days, which will offer
audiences across the State access and enjoyment to a range of exciting, multifaceted cultural
experiences all year round.
“The contemporary shades of blue, used in the multi-dimensional logo, reflect the history of Ten
Days and our commitment to inspiring local audiences as well as providing strong economic value to
Tasmania.
“In 2013, the Ten Days on the Island event generated an investment return of ten dollars for every
one public dollar spent.
“The future of Ten Days is depicted through the depth and complexity of the many angles and layers
of the logo, representing the new artistic offerings to be presented to Tasmanian audiences.”
Mr Barker said key to the success of the festival was the collaborative effort between the Ten Days
team and the Tasmanian community, and the opening of new street frontage with a public art
gallery and box office facilities in the coming months was a way of strengthening that relationship.
“Ten Days on the Island brought art and culture to Tasmania in a way our population had never
before experienced and we want to ensure we continue to do this,” he said.
“It’s a busy time for our team and we look forward to making some more exciting announcements
about upcoming events and developments in the near future.”
