The Tasmanian Greens Science & Tech spokesperson Paul O’Halloran MP today demanded that the Federal Government end the uncertainty over the NBN rollout in Tasmania, and called on Will Hodgman to stand up to Tony Abbott on the issue.

“It’s looking like 85,000 Tasmanian homes could miss out on fibre-to-the home because the Liberal Party is determined to stick by its Neanderthal broadband policy,” Mr O’Halloran said.

“Will Hodgman cannot just stand there silently and let Tony Abbott rip up this once-in-a-generation opportunity for Tasmania.”

“If the Federal Government does not honour the contracts for the NBN rollout in Tasmania, then they have broken a massive promise to the people of this state.”

“The NBN is a massive opportunity for Tasmania and it would be a tragedy if the Liberal Party was allowed to deliver this crushing blow to our state’s economic progress.”
