The Primary Industries Education Foundation will host a Tasmanian School Farms Workshop next week supported by the Friends of the Hagley Farm school.

“It will be an opportunity to showcase what is happening in Tasmania and provide the time, space and support for participants to plan for success, Mr Ben Stockwin CEO of PIEF said.

“The meeting will also explore options for on-going support for Food and Fibre Education in Tasmania through the Primary Industries Education Foundation. We are delighted that three mainland speakers are flying in to speak at the workshop. They are senior professional and will add value for those attending”,

“The workshop is designed to help school farms in Tasmania achieve a viable and sustainable future. The workshop has our full support, Mr Barnett Chair of the Friends of the Hagley school farm, said.

We have received a lot of support for the school and our objective to build a viable future for the school farm. We want to support our school farm at Hagley but see merit in making this workshop available for all school farms in Tasmania, Mr Barnett concluded.

“We will explain the role of the Primary Industries Education Foundation nationally and in Tasmania specifically and then explore the successful practice of mainland school farms. We will review where Food and Fibre education and school farms fit in the Australian curriculum, Mr Stockwin concluded.

The work shop will be held at the Hagley Farm School next Thursday 26 September. For those interested call the Hagley Farm School on 6392 2272 or contact Ben Stockwin at [email protected]
