It’s Nevil Shute week !

Aside from ON THE BEACH, Nevil Shute wrote a novel about Tasmania THE RAINBOW AND THE ROSE.
It was inspired by a visit to the King family at Melaleuca and revolves around an attempted aerial mission to evacuate a critically ill child from an isolated tin mine on the remote rugged west coast of Tasmania.
People from all round the world will be discussing this novel at an international conference in Hobart next month, to be opened by the Lord Mayor on October 14th at the Old Woolstore.
