Two Views of a Fork in the Road
Tim Thorne’s reflection “La Cave d’Aristide”, was originally published in “The Best Australian Poems 2011” by Black Inc. Collingwood. (and then subsequently in his “Yeah No” collection, by PressPress, Berry NSW in 2012).
It deals with the issue of leaders, who, while from the people, yet in leadership turn their backs and in doing so, in some cases, turn the troops out against those who gave them leadership.
There is always a hook in Tim’s work, in this case it’s the humorous ‘no arm-chair marxist because I’m on a wine bar stool somewhere in Languedoc’.
