The Tasmanian Greens Leader Nick McKim MP said he was looking forward to constructively exploring new ideas and opportunities for job creation with the state’s business leaders in Launceston tomorrow.
“Tasmania’s unemployment rate is certainly too high, and I look forward to contributing to a discussion with business leaders about what more can be done to help encourage job creation,” Mr McKim said
“It will be an opportunity for the business community to clearly identify specific actions to accelerate job creation in Tasmania.”
“The challenge for all participants will be to ensure that tomorrow’s forum is more than just talk, and that it is the start of a constructive approach to creating more jobs, especially in areas where Tasmania has a competitive advantage.”
“The Greens remain excited and optimistic about Tasmania’s economic future, particularly in industries like agriculture, renewable energy, information technology, creative industries and tourism, to name just a few.”
“Big changes are looming in the global economy, so Tasmanians need to work together to continue to transform and diversify our economy so that it can be more resilient, and create jobs that last.”
