US Iraq war-veteran-for-peace to tour Australia 4

The WikiLeaks Australian Citizens Alliance, STANDFAST, Stop the War Coalition and USA Iraq Veterans Against War are proud to announce that US Iraq War Veteran Vincent Emanuele will be heading to Australia for a speaking tour from 4th-17th July.

Vincent will be holding speaking engagements in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Rockhampton, where he will be screening the acclaimed documentary ‘On The Bridge’ (about Veteran’s Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and speaking of his experience in the War on Terror, with a Q&A with audience members to follow.

Vincent Emanuele is a former US Marine of two tours to Iraq who refused to go again by laying down his weapon. He is now the organizer for Veterans for Peace and is a National Board Director of the Iraq Veterans.

Vincent states:

“I was able to become a murderer after 13 weeks of Marine Corps training. That’s how powerful the indoctrination process is within the military-industrial-complex.”

“… many of us interpreted the daily actions of those living in Iraq as threatening behavior, and many times responded with bullets, bombs, rockets and missiles. In short, we became heartless murderers and bandits. I watched as many of my fellow Marines robbed, beat and killed innocent Iraqis.”

“I would ask myself, “How would I react if my family, friends and community members were experiencing the same brutalities at the hands of a foreign occupying force?” For me, the answer was quite simple: I would fight back. Of course, this is exactly what the people of Iraq did, and quite effectively.”
