Statewide water and sewerage provider TasWater commences operation today, taking over the water and sewerage services and assets previously operated by Ben Lomond Water, Cradle Mountain Water, Southern Water and Onstream.

TasWater Chairman Miles Hampton said that the switch to the new corporation would be low-key from a customer perspective.

“Water and sewerage customers in Tasmania will notice that their next accounts will come from TasWater rather than Ben Lomond Water, Cradle Mountain Water or Southern Water. There is also a new website at www.taswater.com.au,” Mr Hampton said.

TasWater customers will still be able to call 13 6992 with any enquiries, while email, postal and web addresses from the current regional corporations will continue to reach the relevant personnel.
As part of the reform, TasWater is seeking public input into the development of its first Customer Charter.

The Customer Charter will document the standards TasWater will meet and the processes that will be followed in providing water and sewerage services around Tasmania. The charter will also explain the rights and responsibilities of TasWater customers.

The draft Customer Charter can be found online at www.taswater.com.au. Hard copies can also be obtained by calling 13 6992.

Comments must be received by Monday 22 July 2013. The final document will be submitted to the independent Tasmanian Economic Regulator for approval before implementation. Written comments should be forwarded by mail, fax or email to:
