The Tasmanian Greens Leader Nick McKim MP today welcomed the Federal Government’s announcement that Sense Tasmania would receive an additional boost from economic development funding under the Tasmanian Forests Agreement Regional Diversification Fund.
“Sense-T ticks all the clean, green and clever boxes, making it precisely the kind of transformational economic project that will create long-term jobs in a resilient, low-carbon economy,” Mr McKim said.
“One of the key objectives of the Tasmanian Forests Agreement is to encourage the transformation in Tasmania’s economy, and bring skilled long-term jobs and opportunities to regional areas.”
“Tasmania’s economy is in transition, away from an over-reliance on unsustainable resource extractive industries towards innovative twenty first century industries.”
“This groundbreaking Tasmanian-led project clearly leverages our natural advantages as the clean, green and clever state, and we are proud to support the work they are doing.”
“As partners in Tasmania’s power-sharing government, the Greens are passionate about delivering new and long-term opportunities for regional communities.”
“The Greens are aware there are a wide range of community sponsored projects which have been submitted for consideration from the Regional Diversification Fund, and we hope these are also given serious consideration by the Federal and State Ministers overseeing this process.”
