Green groups are lobbying in Cambodia for more of Tasmania to be locked up while 3000 protest in Smithton against the lock-ups, said Guy Barnett, state Liberal candidate for Lyons today.
“Tasmanian Wilderness Society and Environment Tasmania have delegates in Cambodia lobbying the World Heritage Committee with the Federal and Tasmanian Labor Government.
The protestors and productive industry supported by the silent majority want Tasmania to stop the lock-ups but the Labor and Green representatives are pushing the opposite-more lock ups.
A further 172,000 hectares of Tasmania could be locked up in world heritage from today if their lobbying is successful.
“If more of Tasmania is to be locked up in world heritage this coming week then we will know that both the Federal and Tasmanian Labor governments with the urging of its Green co-conspirators will have acted without the consultation or consent of the Tasmanian people, Mr Barnett said.
