The biggest event in the minerals calendar, The Tasmanian Minerals Conference, is being held at Wrest Point in Hobart from 8 – 10 May 2013.

The program’s structure for this year’s conference is deliberately different.

You will see from the structure of the program that we are tackling big issues this year – among them, the need to retain our manufacturing sector.

We have commissioned a report from Prof Bruce Felmingham of five of our larger enterprises – Norske Skog, MMG Rosebery, Nyrstar Hobart, Bell Bay Aluminium and TEMCO – to demonstrate the effect they have on the Tasmanian economy.

However, we will also take a deep look at the supply chain and review both the Tasmanian and national economies.

In addition, there will be coverage of the need for people to become active in the social media area and Sue Smith will chair a panel discussion on the fundamental importance of attitude in driving Tasmania forward.
