The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie, has responded to the Labor Party’s jobs conference in Hobart.
“The news that the Labor Party is convening a conference in Hobart to consider jobs and economic growth is a welcome development,” Mr Wilkie said.
“It’s way beyond time for the Labor Party to stop taking Denison for granted, and a terrible shame it’s taken an election to force them into at least appearing to care about the Glenorchy/Hobart/Taroona electorate. Pity the Labor Party’s track record suggests it’d be back to business as usual, taking Denison for granted, if they were to win Denison back.
“And all the more pity this latest Labor Party election stunt is grossly hypocritical, seeing as federal government funding restrictions and cuts have cost 150 jobs at UTas and CSIRO.”
