Miranda Gibson in the Observer Tree
ABC Radio is reporting that Tasmania Police is investigating the fire which forced record tree-sitter Miranda Gibson from her Observer Tree perch
Damien Brown, ABC Radio presenter of Drive, Northern Tasmania, is also reporting the probe.
Damien Brown @damienbrownTAS: . @TasmaniaPolice have confirmed fires that forced @observertree1 from her 457 day tree-top protest were deliberately lit. #politas
The report follows former Greens Leader Bob Brown’s call for a probe into a fire he believed was suspicious (TT here: Wildfire ends Miranda’s vigil. Brown fire probe call). This report also includes an anonymous comment claiming a Facebook group published an intriguing entry:
There are some very interesting recent comments on your friend’s infamous FB page (Support Tassie’s Timber Industry like they’ve supported Tassie for years) about the observer tree fire.
A few angry loggers seemed to know about these fires well before news found its way into the media. Hmmm. Interesting.
Below is a copy of the comment which appeared on said FB page on Tuesday March 5…..
…“Word on the grape vine is that there is a fire at Mt Meuller. Now I have this nagging feeling that there is something insignificant about Mt Meuller. Just can’t put my memory to it? Im sure it will come to me sooner or later? Just hope people stay safe at Maydena”….
