A puppet theatre show inspired by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ Murder Ballads explores a world of love,
lust and death, in a rare R-rated theatrical production that will be performed in Hobart this weekend as
part of Ten Days on the Island.

MURDER brings to life a host of shadowy characters who were drawn from the album’s dark world, as well
as from true crime stories and fairytales.

Artistic Director of Ten Days on the Island Jo Duffy said MURDER has been described as a meditation on the
violence within our communities.

“Even though the show looks at grim stories of crime and murder, it is also wickedly clever and savagely
funny,” Ms Duffy said.

The work is an innovative hybrid of puppetry, theatre and dance, with the text adapted by Tasmanian writer
Raimondo Cortese.

MURDER will be performed at the Playhouse Theatre in Hobart until Monday 18 March.

Ten Days on the Island runs from 15 – 24 March 2013, and all programming, venue and ticketing information
is now available at tendaysontheisland.com.
