Cathedral: Professor Peter Boyce; Reflections on Tasmania’s Political Predicament
Friday, March 8th, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm
Professor Peter Boyce will speak at the Friday Forum on March 8 on the topic of Democracy, Reform, and Viable Statehood: Reflections on Tasmania’s Political Predicament.
Professor Boyce is an honorary associate in the University of Tasmania’s Politics and International Relations Program. He has a substantial academic career in Government and Political Science departments in a number of Australian universities. Author of a number of books on politics, foreign affairs, and history, Professor Boyce’s most recent published work has a local focus – God and the City – A History of St. David’s Cathedral Hobart.
This Forum will take place during the first sitting week of the Tasmanian House of Assembly and examine a number of topical questions regarding the size, nature, and viability of the Tasmanian parliamentary system. The issue of political literacy in Tasmania, and the lack of confidence in our governmental systems that is apparent in younger generations, will be a particular focus.
