BRITISH AERIAL THEATRE COMPANY TELLS STORIES OF HUMANITY IN THE AIR
Tailor-made aerial equipment is the key tool utilised by British aerial theatre company Ockham’s Razor to
tell stories of relationships, dependency and cooperation in the work also titled Ockham’s Razor opening
tomorrow night at the Theatre Royal.
Three stories form the work – ‘Arc’, ‘Momenti Mori’ and ‘Every Action’, with each story portrayed through
acrobatic, mid-air performances.
Artistic Director Ten Days on the Island Jo Duffy said Ockham’s Razor creates stories inspired by the trust,
reliance and vulnerability that occurs between people working in the air.
“The show is both moving and exciting, in that the performers portray recognisable experiences, emotions
and conflicts that audiences can relate to, while at the same time taking patrons to the edge of their seats
watching the most amazing aerial performances,” Ms Duffy said.
“Ockham’s Razor will be a very different experience for Ten Days on the Island patrons, but no less
entrancing thanks to the unique combination of dance, physical theatre and aerial acrobatics.
“Recent reviews have described the work as ‘ravishingly graceful’, and we are extremely proud to be able
to bring these remarkably talented artists from Britain to perform in Hobart, following the enormously
popular free performance presented earlier this week in Queenstown.”
Ockham’s Razor will perform two shows at the Theatre Royal on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 March.
Ten Days on the Island runs from 15 – 24 March 2013, and all programming, venue and ticketing
information is now available at tendaysontheisland.com.
