Tasmania’s Finance Minister has indicated a budget blow out is possible after releasing the latest update on the state’s finances.
The government’s December quarterly report shows that revenue and spending are consistent with budget forecasts, but it’s posted a deficit of $201 million in the first six months of the financial year, 60 per cent of the yearly forecast.
The Finance Minister Scott Bacon says it will be a challenge to meet the budget forecast.
“These figures don’t include recovery money that is going to be required to make sure that we can get bushfire affected communities back on their feet,” he said.
