I’m a researcher with Shine Australia, a TV production company in Sydney. We make shows like The Biggest Loser & Masterchef. We are making a new show called ‘Aussie Pickers’ (your readers may be familiar with the US version ‘American Pickers’) and are scouring Tasmania looking for suitable participants for the show. I was hoping I might be able to put a call out for participants in your publication.
We’re on the hunt for real Aussie characters with sheds full of stuff, yards full of junk, rooms full of bric-a-brac or any other large collection of things that they might be willing to sell a few pieces from for the show. Our hosts will be travelling the country on the hunt for bargains and pieces of national history, as well as to meet some interesting people with stories to tell.
We’re looking for people who have large and diverse collections of things, so probably not people who collect one or two items. Ideally they will have sheds, back yards or garages full of ‘junk’ which our pickers can rummage through for the show.
