DEADLINE EXTENSION – Unique writing competition – Avalon City Bedtime Story

Posted on

Rachel Edwards Managing Editor Island Magazine
Unique writing opportunity – a competition to forge a story that will be used at one of Australia’s most innovative and stylish accommodations.

Avalon, city style, will be launched by champion of the big picture sustainable, Brett Torossi early in 2013. As part of providing her guests with a unique, memorable and personal experience of staying in this exciting accommodation, Island, in association with Avalon is excited to announce a unique and creative opportunity for writers around Australia.

We are seeking a template for the Avalon City Retreat Bedtime Story. The winning story will be discovered by Avalon’s guests inside an unassuming book. The story will feature these guests – who have unknowingly designed the details of the narrative and written them into this story of Hobart and Avalon.

The winning story, selected by innovator Brett Torossi and Island co- editor Rachel Edwards, will receive $1000 and one night accommodation at Avalon City Retreat. Small print can be found on the Island website islandmag.com.

The winning story will be between 1500- 2000 words and will be told with an authentic but irreverent Tasmanian bent. It will become the template with our guests names and other signifiers inserted into the story as they begin their engagement with Avalon. This information will be gleaned via a questionnaire sent to the guests.

The author of the winning story will have the answers to questions in the questionnaire and crafted as part of the template. The questions/suggestions are available at islandmag.com. The closing date for entries is FEBRUARY 15th. They should be emailed as attachments to island.magazine@utas.edu.au
