CONCERNS RAISED OVER TT LINE PENSIONER QUOTA
The Tasmanian Greens’ Infrastructure spokesperson Tim Morris MP today called on TT Line to review their policy limiting the number of pensioners who are offered discounts on each sailing.
“As long as TT Line offers a pensioner concession, it seems discriminatory to then limit the number of pensioners who can access any particular sailing on a discounted fare,” Mr Morris said.
“My office was recently approached by a pensioner who was refused a concession because the company had already reached its quota for that sailing.”
“The Greens are calling on TT Line to review this policy, to ensure a more equitable system for allocating discounts for pensioners.”
“It was also revealed today that TT Line has increased its cash savings for the replacement or refurbishment of the Spirits from $16 million to $43 million in the last 12 months.”
“This is a great achievement, in what has been a difficult trading year for many businesses in the local tourism sector because of the high Australian dollar making overseas travel cheaper.”
