Audiences can expect a bravura performance and absorbing theatrical experience during Ten Days on the
Island 2013, thanks to the depth of Tasmanian theatre talent that has collaborated to create As We Forgive – a
Tasmania Performs production and one of the world premiere events that will be presented during Tasmania’s
international arts festival next year.

A play about forgiveness, As We Forgive was written for Tasmanian actor Robert Jarman by one of Australia’s
leading playwrights, Tasmanian Tom Holloway. Local cellist Antony Morgan will join Jarman on stage, playing
music composed by former Director of the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music, Raffaele Marcellino, who is
returning to Tasmania specifically to prepare for the premiere season in Hobart.

Ten Days Artistic Director Jo Duffy said the combination of talented individuals working to create
As We Forgive means audiences can expect to see a theatre work of the most impressive quality.

“Tom Holloway is a multi-award-winning playwright who has for some time been accepted as one of our best
writers for the stage, while the depth of experience that Robert Jarman will bring to his portrayal of three
different and complex characters is well-known and admired by Tasmanian audiences,” Ms Duffy said.

“Add in Raffaele’s music, which Antony will perform live at each performance, and I can confidently promise
Tasmanian audiences they will be deeply moved by this truly memorable show.”

Demonstrating that the festival will be for all Tasmanians, it was also announced today that British aerial artists
Ockham’s Razor will bring their spectacular acrobatic mid-air performances to Tasmanian audiences.

“Ockham’s Razor will be a very different experience for festival-goers, but no less entrancing thanks to the
unique combination of dance, physical theatre and aerial acrobatics,” Ms Duffy said.

“Recent reviews have described the work as ‘ravishingly graceful’, and we are extremely proud to be able to
bring these remarkably talented artists from Britain to perform in Hobart and Queenstown.”

Other festival inclusions announced today include Live! At the Riviera – a contemporary recreation of the
1940s big-band experience; Grace Barbé – sultry, exotic singer-songwriter from the Seychelles; The Other
Journey – a collection of travellers’ experiences from Sri Lanka; Finding Centre – a solo dance work from
Tasmanian artist Trisha Dunn; and MURDER –inspired by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ Murder Ballads.

“Since the first 2001 Ten Days on the Island, the festival has touched the lives of around one million people. In
2013 our programme of events will be delivered in 10 festival towns around Tasmania with the aim of engaging
even more of the Tasmanian community,” Ms Duffy said.

“We truly believe it will offer something for every Tasmanian, and we are working with our many arts industry
partners, the community, international and national artists plus of course the creative brilliance of Tasmanian
artists to present a state-wide festival that will impress, delight, amuse, provoke and bring together people
from all corners of the world – in Tasmania.”
