Promoting organics and healthy living at Cygnet Expo in 2012
The Cygnet Herb, Health and Organic Expo will be held on Sunday the 25th of November, from 10am-4pm. The Expo will be held in the Town and Carmel halls in Cygnet, and will feature guest speakers, workshops and stalls, showcasing Tasmania’s organic, herbal, healthy living options, and sustainable living businesses and community organisations.
“We are very proud to be presenting Tasmania’s own organic festival, a celebration of organic food, farming and gardening. Organics is a positive option for our community in a time of economic and environmental struggles, we should be looking to secure a healthy future for our community, environment and future generations. Our annual Cygnet Herb Health and Organic Expo is a fantastic community event,” Huon Valley Environment Centre’s Jenny Weber said.
Wonderful guest speakers will share their insight and experience on a variety of topics, the program of speakers are;
10am Chris Simcox from Against Animal Cruelty Tasmania
10:40am Peg Putt with Carbon Farming
11:20am Sally Wise with Cooking with Seasonality
12:10pm Peter Norris, owner of Heritage Honey, speaks on Organic Beekeeping
1:00pm Dr John Todd is the Director of Eco-Energy Options Pty Ltd, with Do it Yourself Conservation Around the Home
2:00pm Letitia Ware, Organic Famer and Educator, speaks on Enriched Organic Growing,
3:00pm David Stephen, Taroona’s local gardening guru, speaks on Adapting to Climate Change in the Garden.
Exciting Workshops and Demonstrations will be running throughout the day, including the very popular annual Walk around Cygnet looking at common weeds and their medicinal uses with Greg Whitton and Daniel Robson from Gould’s Naturophathica 1pm – 2:15 pm

The Huon Valley Environment Centre, a small, volunteer run organisation has been hosting this wonderful community event, and fundraiser for the past 9 years, making 2012 the Tenth Anniversary! This year the Expo is proudly sponsored by Bio-distributors and Huon Bush Retreats.
Also on the day in conjunction with the expo – Sustainable/environmental themed workshops will be held at Balfour house 22 Mary St Cygnet. Workshops will include Printmaking, Book binding, Paper making, String making.
The Cygnet Herb, Health and Organic Expo is a wonderful day out for the family. There will be some delicious multicultural food, including Vietnamese and Ethiopian, children’s activities, and live music.
