2012 Glenorchy Carols by Candlelight

Posted on

Organisers for this year’s Glenorchy Carols by Candlelight are putting the final touches to a terrific line up of performers for their December 8 event at beautiful Tolosa Park, Glenorchy.

Patrons at the popular Christmas event can park on site, then stretch out and enjoy a relaxed community concert of carols – hosted this year by, actor and radio personality, Mr Ryk Goddard.

‘For me Carols by Candlelight is all about getting together with friends and family, lighting those candles and joining in the singing!’ says Mr Goddard.

More than 8 local choirs will be featured, including The Choir of High Hopes, Hobart; the hugely popular Tasmanian African Choir; ‘Vivace – Young voices together (formerly the Australian Rosny Children’s Choir); The Way Christian Church Band and performances by students from, Springfield Gardens Primary School Choir and Montrose Bay High School. Concert regulars the Glenorchy City Concert Brass and the Tasmanian Song Company will complete the evening.

Families with young children can enjoy the special children’s entertainment by Makebelieve Entertainment, The Hobart Ukulele Group and Kickit Danceworld. Of course there will be a visit by Santa on dusk, with some free face painting and children’s give- a-ways prior to the main-stage Carols.

The Tolosa Park gates will open for the Concert from 6pm, with a full program of carols running from 7.30pm to 10pm. The event offers extensive onsite parking as well as shuttle buses from the Glenorchy Bus Interchange from 6pm returning 10pm.

The 2012 Carols by Candlelight is brought to you by Glenorchy City Council and the Lions Club of Glenorchy, with our major sponsor, The Bendigo Bank and our media partner 936 ABC Hobart.
