The fresh food drought is over for Old Beach and Otago Bay residents, who will enjoy
easy access to gourmet Tasmanian produce every day from tomorrow, with the opening
of the Verve Grocer at Old Beach.
Until now, the experience of strolling to the local coffee shop has been a mere daydream
for residents of Hobart’s north-eastern shore, whose local food options have been limited
to just one fast food outlet.
St Ann’s Acting CEO Rod Hunt said providing this service to the local community has
always been part of the Verve plan.
“Just because the local community has chosen to live on Hobart’s north-eastern shore,
which is often described as combining a rural environment with city conveniences,
doesn’t mean they need to miss out on the weekend ritual that many Hobartians take for
granted of sitting in a pleasant environment eating wonderful food prepared by someone
else,” Mr Hunt said.
“The Verve Grocer provides a community service, pure and simple, in the best
Tasmanian tradition.”
