Dear Dr Crean,
Quite cravenly, the SBS Ombudsman has capitulated to Hydro Tasmania’s complaint. How readily business terrifies such watchdogs.
The Dateline programme was a much-needed exposé of your company’s crucial role in wreaking havoc on the lives of indigenous Sarawakians.
You should be ashamed of yourselves.
But instead of honorably seeking to repair the damage done to the lives of the Sarawakians, you grizzled to the Ombudsman about the damage done to your own unwarranted hubris.
So, send me your gloating letter following the Ombudsman’s capitulation, but it changes none of the facts, as shown on Dateline, for those poor people in Sarawak.
I would have thought the Ombudsman would have defended this breakthrough SBS story where the rest of the Australian (not least Tasmanian) media has been silent.
But, of course, she has found in favour of your powerful interests ahead of those of the powerless people of Sarawak, without contacting me to verify Dateline’s accuracy.
