Labor has posted its second consecutive Newspoll boost with its primary vote rising two points to 35 per cent, the highest since the start of the year.

The poll, published The Australian newspaper, says the Coalition’s primary vote remains unchanged on 45 per cent.

The increase for Labor is within the three point margin of error, but support for the Government appears to be trending positively.

With the Greens primary vote sitting on 11 per cent, the two party-preferred vote has the Coalition leading the Government, 53 per cent to 47 per cent.

In the preferred prime minister stakes, support for Julia Gillard rose two points.

She is now tied with Opposition Leader Tony Abbott on 38 per cent.
