… In 2011 education in Scottsdale reflects a concerning result with Year 12 or equivalent at 20.3% which has implications for the entire Scottsdale community and business of that area in the future. Also over 30% of the Scottsdale population have no internet which may be due to costs and educational factors.
• Family income $973 (National average $1,481) ie $508 less than national average and $859 less than Hobart av
• Individual income $404 (National average $577) ie $73 less than national average so $289 less than Hobart av.

Devonport …
… has Year 12 or equivalent 26.4%
• Family income $1,066 (National average $1,481 so more than Scottsdale and less than Hobart, Launceston and Smithton.
• Individual income $459 (National average $577) so more than Scottsdale and less than Hobart, Launceston and Smithton

Burnie …
… has year 12 or equivalent 27.7% slightly higher than Devonport
• Family income $1,061 (National average $1,481) similar to Devonport
• Individual income $456 (National average $577) similar to Devonport

Smithton …
… has Year 12 or equivalent education at 19.9% , a similar low level to Scottsdale.
• Family income $1,166 (National average $1,481) ie higher than Scottsdale, less than Hobart and slightly less than Launceston
• Individual income $521 (National average $577) ie higher than Scottsdale, less than Hobart and slightly less than Launceston

Hobart …
… In 2011 66.7% people living in Hobart had completed Year 12 or equivalent with:
• Family av weekly income $1,832 (National average $1,481) so $351 higher than national average ;
• individual income $693 (National average $577) $116 higher than national av. Is this due to a concentration of public servants?

Launceston …
… By contrast Launceston residents data shows only 39.9% had completed Year 12 or equivalent and there is a significant difference in av weekly income between Hobart and Launceston with:
• family income $1,320 (National average $1,481) ie $502 less than Hobart average per week and $161 below national average;
• Individual income $539pw (National average $577 $38 below national average).ie $154 below Hobart individual weekly wage.
