Bob Brown, who campaigned to save Tasmania’s last great wild river, the Franklin, in 1978-83, says that the US Outside magazine’s rating of the Franklin as the world’s best whitewater rafting location is a stunning compliment for Tasmania.
“I’m so delighted. It’s also a great accolade for Tasmanian Expeditions”.
“This is a huge, huge gong for Tasmania’s wild and scenic beauty and the natural adventure it offers the world.”
“It’s also belated recognition for the 500 people who went to jail and 20,000 who protested in Hobart in Feb 1983 – still the biggest environmental rally in Australia’s history”, Bob Brown said.
