New York Metropolitan Opera comes to MONA
The MONA Cinema is offering a series of exclusive screenings of the New York Metropolitan Opera Company’s 2011-2012
season.
To kickstart the series – we begin with Jules Massenet’s Manon – an adaptation of a controversial 1731 novel, Manon Lescaut
– which was banned in France for more than 20 years until the author agreed to ‘tone it down’. Think gamblers, wanton
actresses, rakish Dukes, or – Moulin Rouge without the jukebox.
Viewing time: 1pm. Duration: 4hrs 8 mins, with two intermissions.
Adults $27, Concession $22 and Children $15.

Conveniently, the cinema is located adjacent to the bar – and food and drinks are accepted, if not encouraged, to
accompany your viewing – leaving you with little excuse not to attend at least something over the next few months:

In case you’d like to make a day of it, on Sundays – we have Jazz in the Void running through winter. This weekend its trio,
Muir, Whitton & Ives who will grace the space with mellow jazzy blues in the crooning style – think Jobim, Sinatra and Chet
Baker.
