The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Works from the Permanent Collection curated by Devonport Regional Gallery Director Ellie Ray surveys the many faces of Devonport City’s Art Collection.

A range of works have been purchased or donated over a 40 year period; this exhibition aims to traverse the various genres, media and themes of the Collection. However, what makes this exhibition different from past collection shows is that the Gallery is inviting visitors to judge the individual artworks as either good, bad or ugly. The Gallery will be compiling the information gathered and uploading the results to our website.

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly: Works from the Permanent Collection will display the many ‘faces’ of the collection-some of which have not been under gallery lights for decades.

This show was inspired by the new purpose built storage facility for Devonport City’s Art Collection that is soon to be completed. The purpose built space has been designed to house over 1,700 items of art, craft and design and over 40,000 photographic negatives, including ample space for the growing collection.

The Gallery invites the community to share their opinion of what they think is, good, bad or ugly. Public floor talks and education sessions will be held throughout the exhibition.
