RECLAIM THE LANE – FREE Music and Arts Festival

Posted on

13th April 1 – 4 pm Rooke Lane, Devonport

Rooke St Lane is a small lane off the main drag of the Devonport CBD. It is primarily seen as a thoroughfare for local residents and businesses, however it is slowly emerging as a creative hub of Devonport. There is a small independent music studio, a café/providore and at its entrance the Devonport Regional Gallery, a contemporary gallery space exhibiting a diverse range of local and international art.

All of these organisations have joined forces under the scope of 2012 National Youth Week with the aim of highlighting and promoting the importance of fostering young creative talent in the region. Astrid Joyce from the Devonport Regional Gallery said “We are really excited about showing young people the benefits of being creative in their community whether, it’s through leadership or learning new skills.”
Reclaim the Lane aims to highlight the important role cultural organisations play in developing creative communities and vibrant public spaces. This one-day event offers a range of activities, exhibits and performances from local artists, musicians and performers.
