Island Award – new achievement award for Tasmanian farmers

Posted on

The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association (TFGA) is seeking nominations for a new award that, biennially, will recognise a farming business that leads the way in sustainable innovation.

The Island Award for excellence in Tasmanian agriculture will be presented each year at the TFGA annual conference. This year’s will be at Country Club Tasmania in Launceston from July 11-13.

The rules of the Island Award are that it will be given to a farming business that has an eye to the future. It must demonstrate a sustainable, adaptive and innovative approach to farming. It should be able to show that it is farming for tomorrow as well as today and, more than likely, should already be a leader within the industry.

The winner will receive a trophy and $2000 cash prize. Leading Tasmanian agricultural business consultancy Macquarie Franklin is the initial sponsor.

Agricultural industry groups (grower organisations, representative groups) can submit a nominee from their industry. Individual farm businesses are also encouraged to apply.

Applications open on March 19 and close on Friday May 11. Application forms and guidelines will be available on the TFGA and Macquarie Franklin websites:
