Book Event: celebration of Tchaikovsky, Man of Glass by Carol Warner at Fullers Bookshop, Sunday, February 19, 2pm
There will be a free concert, readings and a celebration around the book Tchaikovsky, Man of Glass, by Carol Warner who is a former ballerina, trained at the Royal Academy of Dancing , London at Fullers Bookshop. Sunday. February 19th at 2pm.
In her book, Tchaikovsky Man of Glass, Carol Warner, draws the reader into the artistic and passionate life of the legendary nineteenth century Russian composer – from his uproarious youth, magnificent career and his mysterious final days.
She emigrated to Tasmania and re-trained in the great Bolshoi Ballet system with the Premier Danseur from the Belgrade Opera Ballet.
On returning to Hobart she created many ballets at the Theatre Royal:
among them, Anna Karenina and Carmen. She later founded The Tasmanian Youth Ballet with productions at the Theatre Royal: Cinderella, Coppelia, Petrushka, and Firebird.
