Hobart Photographer Luke O’Brien and the Australia Japan Society (Tas) would like to invite you to a Photographic Exhibition at the Waterside Pavilion opening Monday November 21 at 6:00.
The exhibition is a fundraiser for the communities of north east Japan which were devastated by the March 11 earthquake and resultant tsunami and nuclear crisis.
The photographs were taken by Luke O’Brien and Hideki Okubo in July & August this year, four-five months after the disaster and show that while progress has been made in regards to clean up, the affected communities are still in great need of support. Luke’s wife Midori is from Fukushima and Hideki is from Ibaraki. Both areas were hit very hard by the disasters and all funds raised through this exhibition will be donated to rebuilding the region.
