MyState BOFA Film Festival

MyState BOFA Film Festival attendees can look forward to an array of musical entertainment and spectacular parties in addition to the film program during the five days of the Tasmanian film festival.
The musical performances and parties will add an additional element of sophistication and choice of entertainment for visitors to soak up during the film festival, said MyState BOFA Film Festival Founder and Director Owen Tilbury.

“While MyState BOFA has its serious side- to highlight great films which can make a positive difference to the way we live- it will also have its fun side and a packed social program will ensure that every visitor has a great time in Launceston,” said Mr Tilbury.

Festival visitors looking for a place to relax, discuss films and reflect on their festival experience will love The Balcony. Free to all festival attendees, the MyState Balcony provides a place to relax and be entertained. The Balcony will feature exclusive live performances from some of Australia’s finest jazz artists, to be enjoyed whilst indulging in a range of premium Tasmanian food and wine.
MyState have confirmed jazz vocalist Elly Hoyt will perform at The Balcony on the Saturday night. Described by jazz great James Morrison as ‘the real thing’, 24 year-old Hoyts captures audience with her soulful, velvety voice. The Tasmanian born singer has been touring Australia and is looking forward to returning home for the festival.

Other artists confirmed for The Balcony include the divine Maria Lurighi whose vocals range from blues to choir; musical ensemble ‘Strings on Fire’ String Quartet – the perfect accompaniment for a Sunday lunch and the captivating voice of Jude Elliot.

MyState BOFA will also host red carpet gala events, an indulgent Awards dinner and ‘fresh’ after parties.

The Gala Launch of the festival (Wednesday, 23rd November) will be a glamorous black tie event, allowing attendees to mingle with the film industry crowd, enjoy cocktails, entertainment and Tasmanian’s finest food and wines.

Friday night (25th November), the MyState BOFA Devil Awards will celebrate the winners of the festival’s best short films. Promising to be a night to remember, contestants, finalists, celebrities and film fans will feast of Tasmania’s abundance of fresh produce from the sea and land, while sipping on fine wine. The ticketed evening will also help raise money for the Save the Tasmanian Devil Fund.
And for those who want to enjoy quality Tasmanian beer, then look no further than James Boag’s Brewery for a full range of award-winning brews. BOAGS will also play host to the BOFA@BOAGs after party (Thursday, 24th November).

Along with the musical performances and in-between the parties, visitors can enjoy a vibrant celebration of film, master-classes and industry debates.
Situated in the heart of the beautiful Tamar Valley, Launceston, a region renowned for its fine food and wine, the festival will be held in Tasmania, running over 5 days (23 – 27 November).
