Calvary continues winning ways

Posted on

Calvary Health Care Tasmania has today been awarded the coveted title of ‘Employer of Choice’ at
the 2011 Employer of Choice Awards.

Open to any organisational body employing staff within Tasmania, the awards showcase the cream
of Tasmania’s private and public sectors, with a focus on employee well-being and flexibility.

Calvary Health Care CEO Michael Krieg said he was humbled to be part of an organisation that had
consistently displayed such high levels of internal management.

“In our industry it has traditionally been very difficult to maintain staff, so we are really excited to be
named an Employer of Choice, particularly given the strength of this year’s field,” Mr Krieg said.

Mr Krieg said the key to Calvary’s success had been a deliberate focus on staff retention.

“We recognise that by working hard to keep the best people, we can create a consistent and happy
workforce, which is infectious and will make coming to work enjoyable rather than just a necessary
part of life.”

Kym Self, a Clinical Nurse Educator employed with the organisation for nine years, said she was
proud to be a member of the Calvary team.

“When I first finished studying I was offered two jobs and I’m so pleased I chose to take up a
position at Calvary,” she said.

“The level of support and encouragement I have received here has been incredible and I have
made many lifelong friends over my career.

“We work together, we work hard, and we take our commitment to our patients, our staff and each
other very seriously.”

Calvary Health Care Tasmania offers a range of innovative training and development programs
aimed at building staff capacity and investing in the future of the organisation.

The Employer of Choice award comes just two weeks after Calvary won the People Innovation in
Business award for their innovative health program targeted at addressing the wellness needs of
staff.
