A great Year for Kyra Sparkling – Tamar Valley Tasmania
Iron Pot Bay Wines in Tasmania’s Tamar Valley was established in 1988 and has been making a sparkling wine since 1996. The current release sparkling wine – ‘Kyra’ Sparkling Chardonnay /Pinot Noir 2006, is named for the late Kyra Hinman who established the vineyard at Rowella with Rod Cuthbert in 1988.
(Roderick, who celebrated his 80th birthday in September 2011, still rises at dawn to inspect his vines, does serious tractor work and repairs all vineyard equipment.)
It has been a year of success for Kyra Sparkling 2006 which won the Sparkling Trophy at the National Cool Climate Wine Show in Bathurst recently. This month, Kyra Sparkling also earned Royal Hobart Show’s Trophy for Best Sparkling.
