I note with interest that this Wednesday Is ‘Ride to Work Day’.
The event is promoted by Bicycle Tasmania.
Bicycle Tasmania says “This year bike riders will be pitted against drivers and public transport users to arrive ready for work.”
As if travelling to or from work [or anywhere for that matter] is not fraught with danger as it is because of irresponsible, unaccountable cyclists.
Now they want to make a ‘contest’ of it.
This sort of stunt needs to be reined in.
The unused green cycle lanes need to be removed.
The ugly, unused silver ‘bike stands’ need to be removed from Hobart’s landscape.
The proposed Sandy Bay to Taroona Cycle lane needs to be stopped.
Bicycle riders should be subject to a riding test to obtain a license.
Their bicycles should be registered just as motor vehicles, motor bikes and trailers are.
Bicycle Tasmania recently conducted push polling of all HCC election candidates.
The survey asked incisive questions such as “Are you surprised by the high rate of cycling in Tasmania?”
What a joke!
