Tasmanian heads troubled union
A Tasmanian union leader has been appointed acting president of the national Health Services Union.
The union’s state secretary, Chris Brown, replaces Michael Williamson who is on leave after allegations about the use of union funds.
Mr Brown will head the union while police investigate the allegations.
“The union nationally is in a bit of crisis given the allegations that have been made against a couple of senior officials of the union,” he said.
“So that means, I guess, we need to rebuild the confidence of the union in the eyes of members.
“So that’s going to take a little bit of work to do.”
