Mill site works too much for air monitors

Posted on

It looks like pollution from machinery at the proposed pulp mill Long Reach site has been too much for the closest ambient air monitoring station at Rowella.

Not long after earth works commenced, the readings rose sharply and then the monitor stopped reporting.

It has been out of action since then on the 8/9/2011.

One would trust it has not been deliberately turned off.

Whilst on the subject of air quality in the East Tamar; George Town is in close proximity to the proposed pulp mill site and has had poor air quality because of industry in the past and looks like it still does by a letter in the Examiner on the 10/9.
