THE State Government has called for tenders to start building the Cape Hauy section of its Three Capes Track project before it announces what services will be cut to plug the Budget black hole.
News that the Government was committed to forging ahead with the Tasman Peninsula project caused surprise in March.
A request for quotes to build the first 3.5km section of the Cape Hauy track from the Forstescue Bay boat ramp to the Mt Fortescue Track junction has now been advertised.
Environment, Parks and Heritage Minister Brian Wightman confirmed last month the Government was still committed to the full 68km Three Capes walking track despite a massive Budget black hole.
But questions have been raised whether the Cape Hauy section of the project will be the only part to survive the Budget hatchet.
