Shape the debate on Tasmania’s future

Posted on

Dear friend,

Next Wednesday, you can shape the debate on Tasmania’s future direction.

Tasmania’s political, economic and environmental leaders have been brought together by GetUp and Our Common Ground so that you can hear from and question them directly.

Tasmania is at an environmental and economic cross-road. Will it become an economic powerhouse or economic basket case? Will it be an environmental leader or sustainability laggard?
RSVP to have your say at the forum:

When: 7:00-8:30 pm Wednesday evening, 27 April
Where: Stanley Burbury Lecture Theatre, UTAS, Sandy Bay Campus

Forum participants:

– Premier Lara Giddings
– Greens Leader Nick McKim
– Opposition Leader Will Hodgman
– Saul Eslake, Program Director, Grattan Institute
– Prof Jonathon West, Director Australian Innovation Research Centre
– Dr Bruce Felmingham, Economist, IMC-Link
– Dr Phill Pullinger, Director of Environment Tasmania

Hosted by Judy Tierney of Our Common Ground

There is no starker example of the pressing choices that Tasmania faces than in the forest industry. Why is there a crisis in the timber industry and what will it take for Tasmania to be part of a sustainable 21st century market that demands high environmental and social standards?

Be part of the conversation! Question your political leaders and prominent experts. Come along this Wednesday and help shape your states future.
